Aachen in 2026: a May show and the World Championships.

Aachen, Germany, hosts the annual CHIO Aachen show at its showground, the Aachen Soers. In 2026 the venue held two things: a one-off May show called TSCHIO Aachen, and the FEI World Championships in six disciplines in August. Both are finished.

Why the show moved to May

With the World Championships taking over the Aachen Soers in August 2026, the organiser ran its annual show as a one-off event in May under the name TSCHIO Aachen, from 22 to 24 May 2026 (CHIO Aachen, 22 May 2025). It announced five-star jumping, the Rolex Grand Prix on 24 May as a leg of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping, classes for young horses, and para dressage on the Aachen programme for the first time. Search summaries of an equi-pages preview say the 2026 show had no Nations Cups; we have not confirmed that.

The 2026 Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen

The Rolex newsroom, as summarised in search results, reports that Richard Vogel and United Touch S won the Grand Prix on 24 May 2026 in a three-rider jump-off that included Sophie Hinners, and that it was the second leg of the 2026 Rolex Grand Slam. The newsroom page refused our request, so we could not read the full report or the other placings. Vogel and United Touch S went on to ride in Germany's gold-medal team at the World Championships in August, and Hinners rode in that team too (Chronicle of the Horse, 21 August 2026).

The World Championships, August 2026

The FEI awarded the 2026 World Championships in jumping, dressage, eventing, four-in-hand driving, vaulting and para dressage to Aachen at its General Assembly in Mexico City, on a joint bid by the German Equestrian Federation (FN) and the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein (ALRV). The organiser gave the dates as 11 to 23 August 2026 and pointed out that this was exactly 20 years after Aachen hosted the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games (CHIO Aachen, 19 November 2023). The Aachen tourist office gives the same 11 August start; some previews, among them Horse Illustrated's and the Chronicle of the Horse's, gave 10 August, apparently counting the first horse inspection.

Endurance was not part of the Aachen award; it was placed separately and is still to come, in December 2026, near Abu Dhabi (see endurance championships).

The world champions crowned at Aachen were, in brief: Germany in team dressage, team jumping and vaulting; Charlotte Fry (Great Britain) in both individual dressage tests; Great Britain in team eventing and Michael Jung (Germany) individually; Steve Guerdat, the first Swiss individual jumping world champion according to an FEI headline; Boyd Exell (Australia) and the Netherlands in four-in-hand driving; Alice Layher and Quentin Jabet in individual vaulting; and the USA in team para dressage. Every podium, with its source, is on the 2026 World Championships page. The organisers' para dressage information sheet explaining the five grades is summarised on para dressage events.

Aachen before 2026

  • 2006 World Equestrian Games: Aachen was the fifth host of the multi-discipline Games, after Stockholm, The Hague, Rome and Jerez de la Frontera (Wikipedia). The full list is on World Championships history.
  • Nations Cup history: one search result names Aachen in 1929 as the first jumping Nations Cup held there; Horse Network dates Nations Cups in general to 1909. We could not confirm the Aachen date. See Nations Cup.

Our research did not cover the annual CHIO Aachen's founding or its results before 2026, so they are not on this page.

Following Aachen

For the 2026 World Championships, Your Horse (7 August 2026) said all the action would stream on ClipMyHorse.TV and FEI.TV. Other broadcasters reported for Aachen are on watching equestrian sport.
